LCC announce plan to increase Lekki and Ikoyi toll gate tariff on February 1

LCC announce plan to increase Lekki and Ikoyi toll gate tariff on February 1
A new price is set to hit toll gate users as the Lekki Concession Company Limited has announced that it will increase the toll tariffs being charged at the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge Toll Plaza with effect from Thursday, February 1, 2018.

The LCC in a statement said, 'the toll fare increase is as a result of current economic and business realities that have adversely increased the cost of operations and maintenance of the company’s loan obligations'.

The Managing Director, LCC, Mohammed Hassan noted that the feedback and recommendations received during the series of consultations held in December 2017 with stakeholders in Eti-Osa Local Government area and its environs considerably influenced the new toll fares to be paid by motorists plying the Expressway and the Link Bridge.

Detailing the new development, Mr. Hassan said: "Since the commencement of tolling in December 2011, the toll tariffs had remained the same despite the continuous increase in the cost of operations to ensure that the toll plazas and the road infrastructure are well maintained. The toll review has also become necessary to enable the company meet its loan obligations to its local and foreign lenders, considering the fact that foreign exchange rates have continued to increase astronomically in the last couple of years. LCC cannot continue to operate or provide the services required from us if we do not review the toll tariffs".

Many of the consulted stakeholders including traditional rulers & community leaders, residents' associations and youth groups, Eti-Osa Local Government officials, members of the media as well as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Eti-Osa Local Government Area agreed that there was a need for constant upgrade of road facilities, as the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe corridor was rapidly becoming an international economic hub for investors.

Reacting to the new toll fares for branded commercial vehicles popularly called 'Danfo', Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Jakande, Eti-Osa Local Government Chapter, Alhaji Taofeek Oluwa, commended the foresight of LCC in consulting with leaders and members of the NURTW in Eti-Osa LGA. Alhaji Oluwa noted that although the toll fare review by LCC was unavoidable, the NURTW was glad to know that LCC took their advice for a minimal increment on toll fare from N80 to N100 (N90 for eTag users) for commercial transport buses plying the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway. "As long as LCC honours its agreement of our mutual understanding at the stakeholders' meeting, we can confidently support LCC and the Lagos State Government by assuring that commuters will not suffer any increase in the fare paid to board branded commercial buses coming into or going out of Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway. Also, if the fare increase will improve the standard of the roads and provide more comfortable and safer journey for all road users, NURTW will be happy to endorse the toll fare review", Alhaji Oluwa added.

Keeping in line with its corporate objectives of delivering real utility to road users on the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, LCC had managed operations of the roads for the past ten years despite the yearly increase of the cost of operations and other relevant expenses. In addition, LCC provides various other services to road users, especially as it relate to their convenience such as the 24/7 free vehicle breakdown and recovery services by the Company's Route and Incident Management team; the LCC dedicated Police team; the Toll free Customer Service helpline and other services. Over 100,000 road users have benefited from the free service of the Route and Incident Management team since inception, while LCC dedicated police team has ensured improved security along the expressway.

Mr. Ebuka Oseji, a businessman resident in Ajah, who was part of the community consultation with LCC, offered some advice saying: “It is also pertinent for LCC as a company to continue to carry out its corporate social responsibilities to the people in our catchment area so as to enable them enjoy the benefits accruable from investments in the area”.

Mr. Hassan further urged motorists to take advantage of the electronic platforms by registering for e-Tag to enable them enjoy discounted passages and faster throughput at the plazas. The LCC’s Managing Director said that commercial buses would enjoy discounted passages such that transport fares will not be hiked as a result of the reviewed tariff.

TF? Popular feminist writer advises black women to try dating bisexual men ...
A black feminist author gave weird advise to Black women this week in a new article publiched on the website The Root titled “Why I’m Open to Dating Bisexual Men,” .

Author Kyla Jenee Lacey advised women to try dating “bisexual” men and the reason she gave is also weird. Read her piece below and tell us what you think...
[Black male] Sexual fluidity is a real thing, and men have sex with other men all the time.
As black women, we contribute to the tired trope that a man who has sex with other men is somehow sullied and his masculinity ruined, and we will throw the whole man of our dreams away because he had sex with another man and has been honest about it.
There’s more:
Women will put up with [Black men with] no jobs, multiple ugly kids, multiple baby mamas, multiple other women—shit, wives even; but let him be bisexual, or sexually fluid, and it’s a complete wrap.
And she ends with this:
We have become so wrapped up in protecting toxic masculinity that we forget to protect ourselves. . . If he likes me, he likes me . . . I would simply hope that they protected themselves.
It’s insane that in 2018 controversy surrounding people’s sexuality still even exists – but it does.
Is Kyla Jenee Lacey right? Should Black women actively seek out bisexual men? Does she make a solid point about women being able to retain their femininity no matter what… surely men should be afforded the same right? Or do you think that feminists like Lacey are reaching?

'I have the direct phone numbers of 13 presidents' – Davido

Davido has revealed how big he has become since releasing his first song some years ago.

In new chat with MTV Base, the singer: “When I released the song back then, I did not know that it was going to be that big. Then I went back to school and the love that I was shown was overwhelming, let alone the way girls began to treat me. That one song with the video made my father realize that I had the talent. And then, I did the song, ‘Dami Duro’. The song became so big and I remember that the President at the time called my father to talk about me and the song". .
.
"Even during my father’s business meetings with his friends, they would mention my name and the song. Before long, I started traveling and doing shows around the world. Now I have the numbers of about 13 presidents on my phone and if I call them, they would answer the call. Then the award came and it set me on another level”
he said.

Republic of?Niger jails nine soldiers accused of coup attempt
A court in Niger jailed nine soldiers for between five and 15 years on Friday for an attempted coup against President Mahamadou Issoufou in 2017.

In December 2015, the government said it had foiled a coup and arrested people planning to use aerial firepower to seize control of Niger, a largely desert West African nation, a major uranium producer and Western ally against Saharan jihadists.

In the judgement read out by Judge Ibrahim Daoudika, the suspected ringleader, General Salou Souleymane, got 15 years, as did two others. Six co-conspirators received sentences ranging from five to 10 years, and another three accused were acquitted.  Issoufou was elected in 2011, one year after a coup.

He was re-elected in February 2016 with 92.5 percent of the vote, after the opposition coalition boycotted the polls.

“This is not what we expected, but the court is sovereign and it judged that they conspired against the state,” lawyer Nabara Ycouba told a news conference. “The law does not allow for an appeal. I will discuss with my clients what to do.

Man kills five-day-old son because he couldn
Operatives of the Nigeria Police in Bauchi State on Friday arrested one Habibu Bala of Ningi Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing his five-day-old son with insecticide, because “I have no money to organise naming ceremony for the child.”

The arrest happened as a septuagenarian, Joseph Adetunji, who allegedly bathed his son’s face with acid, yesterday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Confirming the arrest of Bala, Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kamal Abubakar, while briefing journalists on the successful operations carried out within the week. Abubakar, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said on January 21, the suspect’s brother, one Musa Bala, reported at the Ningi Police Station that on the same date about 2:30p.m., his younger brother poisoned his newborn son by feeding him insecticide.

He said: “As a result the baby became unconscious and was later taken to Ningi General Hospital, where a medical doctor certified him dead.”

'Give us names of the politicians that sponsored you' - Daddy Freeze reacts to Stephanie Otobo's confession at Apostle Suleman's church

Stephanie Otobo who made news last year after alleging that she was in a sexual relationship with the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministeries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, yesterday went to his church in Edo state and in front of his congregation, confessed that she lied against him.

According to Stepahnie, she was paid heavily by some politicians to tarnish the image of the pastor.

Now, Daddy Freeze and many other Nigerians on social media are demanding that she gives the names of the politicians that sponsored her and if possible bank statements.

According to Freeze, 'this is wonderful news for the body of Christ. However, to move Christianity forward, we must be able to identify these politicians and prevent them from carrying out such heinous attacks on our faith going forward'.

He goes on to say, 'to this end, I’ll be most obliged if you can provide us with the following. The names of these politicians; Account transfers to show the transactions in order to enable us trace, through BVN, the perpetrators of these acts and bring them to book. The bank account details are very important. Let’s remember the instance where a pastor was accused of buying a Mercedes SUV for a Lady. The registration details of the car were provided as well as bank transaction details. Thank you so much for your dedication to the propagation of his kingdom here on earth'.

16 years ago, January 27, 2002 to be precise, the city of Lagos witnessed an unprecedented twin bomb blast in ikeja that left hundreds dead and many more injured.

This lady, Ifeoma was just 4 years old at the time and she survived. Back then her photograph made it to the covers of several national newspapers.

Remembering the sad day 19 years after, she wrote, 'the past is but a story told!! and the future has been written in GOLD. Today mark’s 19 years I escaped death !! It would have been too young to die, But God changed my story (27/1/2002) during the bomb blast that happened in Ikeja cantonment, when I was just 4 years old. that took the lives of millions of souls including that of my kid brother, and left me the only surviving child among all those that were drowned on that day at the Canal .. so many lives were lost, properties on that day.

But here I am today thanking God for he has preserved me because he knows he has a grater plan for me,which I haven’t fulfilled in earth. RIP to those souls that were lost including that of my brother may God console them (even tho the government fulfill Their promises may God still touch their heart for them to remember us and fulfill their promises).

Femi Fani-Kayode: 'President Obasanjo and ............

Femi Fani-Kayode: 'President Obasanjo and his letter to Buhari'

Femi Fani-Kayode:
Read the latest article form the former Minister of Aviation below...

"Few can dispute the fact that President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ebora Owu, was one of those that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 2015.

Without Obasanjo's wholesale and comprehensive endorsement Buhari would have failed woefully at the polls three years ago.

Yet, in my view, today the Ebora Owu has absolved himself of this grave and monumental error by standing up to speak truth to power at great risk to his safety, fortunes and welfare and by sending our President an explosive, damning and much-awaited missive telling him that he has failed woefully, admonishing him to get off his "high horse of leadership" and advising him not to attempt to run again in 2019.

I am delighted and indeed proud of what the Ebora has done and I commend and congratulate him for finding the courage to say what those of us that have been at the forefront of the struggle against President Buhari have been saying for the last three years.

My friend and brother Governor Peter 'The Rock' Ayodele Fayose gallantly led the charge and said it. Pastor Reno Omokri said it. Dr. Reuben Abati said it. Professor Abubakar Sulaiman said it. Col. Abubakar 'Dangiwa' Umar said it. Governor Nyesom Wike said it. Senator Ben Murray-Bruce said it. Mujaheed Asari Dokubo said it. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it.

Yours truly said it. And a number of others said it.

And each and every one of us that did, in varying degrees, have faced all manner of insults and threats and have paid a heavy price for doing so.

Yet we have no regrets because no matter what happens tomorrow posterity will judge us kindly and history will recall that, when it mattered the most, we stood for the people, for the truth, for justice and for equity and we resisted and opposed racism, ethnic hegemony, religious bigotry, naked tyranny, oppression, mass murder, genocide, ethnic cleansing and the relentless attempt to subjugate and enslave our compatriots and our nation.

We welcome President Obasanjo and others to the honorable and noble ranks of conscientious dissenters, non-conformists and men of courage. Yet as refreshing and inspiring as his letter was I respectfully disagree with just one aspect of it.

I believe that his categorisation and condemnation of the main opposition party was unecessarily harsh, misplaced and regrettable. And neither do I accept the assertion that the PDP "procured" a judgement at the Supreme Court.

The continous attempt to demystify, demonise, demean and destroy the PDP, which the APC and the Buhari government set in motion as one of its cardinal policies three years ago, is certainly not the way forward.

If anything those that got it wrong three years ago and that supported Buhari should be thanking the PDP for having the insight and fortitude to recognise the insincerity of purpose and glaring incompetence in Buhari and his APC at a very early stage when they stubbornly refused to do so.

They should also be thanking a few of us for providing a viable, strong and virile opposition to a man that can best be described as a vicious and vindictive maximum dictator who has no respect for the rule of law or the tenets of democracy and a party that was contrived and conjured up from the pit of hell.

Yet outside of that faux pax I believe that the Ebora Owu's intervention was not only welcome but also timely.

His counsel has removed whatever little was left of the spiritual foundation of the APC and the Buhari government and it has stripped them naked before the civilised world.

Today they are nothing but a sorry bunch of castrated and weakened renegades who are living on the fading glory and diminishing power of an "all-conquering" ethnic hegemonic and religious bigot. Simply put, they are nothing but a shell of their former selves.

Baba Obasanjo's intervention also creates the potential for a new beginning and a massive and purposeful realignment of political forces that may end up saving Nigeria.

Let us hope that thousands of others that have hitherto been hiding under their beds out of fear of Buhari will follow the Ebora's lead and find their voice.

Yet if we really want to ensure that Buhari does not return in 2019 we need to go much further than offering wise counsel or letter-writing.

The truth of the matter is that this whole issue goes far beyond party politics: it is a struggle between the forces of light and the forces of darkness. I say this because what we are faced with is pure tyranny and unadulterated evil.

As a matter of fact it is probably the greatest evil that we have ever known in our entire history.

Quite apart from the sheer duplicity, double-speak, greed, mendacities, double-standards, nepotism, ethnic and religious motivations, clanishness, cruelty, incompetence and monumental corruption of the Buhari administration, under their watch more people have been slaughtered by the security forces and by state-supported and protected ethnic militias like the Fulani terrorists and herdsmen than at ANY other time in our history outside the civil war.

Too much blood has been shed. Too much suffering and devastation has been wrought and inflicted. Too much has gone wrong. The very root of our foundation and our source of strength and unity has been tampered with and damaged almost irreversibly over the last three years.

Worse still is the fact that the no-fascist forces that Buhari and those that are still with him represent will not let go of power without a hard and bloody fight.

Those forces are far more entrenched, determined, bloody-minded, dangerous and devastating than anything we have ever known or that we have ever been confronted with in our entire history. They are not only ruthless but they are also relentless.

If anyone doubts that they should read the words of the Minister of Defence when he attempted to defend, justify and rationalist the activities of the Fulani herdsmen.

I said this during the 2015 Presidential campaign and many refused to listen. I am saying it again today. Buhari and those behind him will not go down without a fight yet they must be stopped before they soak the whole of Nigeria in innocent blood and shatter whatever little is left of our fragile unity.

They must be stopped before they ignite a second civil war in which brother will kill brother and to which there will be no end.

We must avoid this at all costs and we must settle our many differences in a peaceful and civilised way through dialogue, fair play, justice, restraint,  understanding, free and fair elections and, most important of all, the restructuring of our nation.

We must also be ready to confront the tyranny in the land and face down the evil wherever and whenever it raises its ugly head.

Those that choose to play down the dangers of our situation and that have turned a blind eye to the gravity of the unfolding crisis would do well to consider the words of Mr. Abdulazeez Adeniyi Sulaiman. He wrote,

"Buhari's legacy of bigotry and ethnic hatred is set in stone. There is no amount of makeover under the sun that can change that. Fulani herdsmen set a 150-acre palm plantation ablaze in Oyo state".

Disturbing? Indeed. Yet no-one has managed to capture the mood better than Mr. Nnaemeka John who wrote the following on 21st January,

"I love the Fulanis! Our political scientists take time to study Machiavelli, Gramsci, Shaka the Zulu, Hans Morganthau's 'Power', Guevara et al ignoring a rare and unique political philosophy in our midst- "the Fulanism-Jihadism!"

See how they took Hausa land, took Ilorin, used and dumped Ken Saro Wiwa, used the Tivs, Igalas, Idoma's et al and dumped them. Unongo is now a wailing wailer, David Mark has lost his voice, Gemade is lost, Audu is still somnambulist, Fani-Kayode is screaming, Olu Falae is now a chronic wailer: learnt they visited him again yesterday. Na so life be?

Now, let it be known all over southern Nigeria, that the march to dip the Koran into the Atlantic ocean has began in earnest. Any obstacle will be ruthlessly crushed.

They tested the people's will by threatening to soak dogs and baboons in blood, they got their way.

The killed and burnt the entire family of a Resident Electoral Commissioner nothing happened. They appointed only people from their side into their kitchen cabinet, southerners were made to justify it.

They closed the Chapel on the Rock at Aso, our Christian Vice president, explained it away. They released murderous Boko Haram members, without any kind of penal measures into society, we hissed and went about our normal businesses. They paraded our people accused of corruption in handcuffs like common criminals, we kept quiet.

They picked up Nnamdi Kanu, whose words pierced their conscience, exposed their plans and cried to the world; they handcuffed him, like a common criminal while Boko Haram kingpins, who have murdered hundreds, appeared in court unfettered, we only grumbled.

They sent herdsmen to cause havoc in our homelands, rather than defend ourselves, we begged them to stop killing us in own ancestral homes. They pushed further by appointing only their own into the National Defence Council, something that has never happened before, not even immediately after the civil war, all we did was murmur.

They took on unarmed IPOB, proscribed them, labeled them terrorists and militants, politically correct people hailed them and clapped for them.

For the jihadists, it was a sign that the time has come, the time to implement the time tested strategy that worked in Ilorin, Lebanon, Turkey and several other places.

Since it is now very obvious, that the people have been cowed, intimidated and politically outsmarted, it is now time to introduce the Trojan horse, under the guise of cattle colonies.

They will take the people's lands, develop them with proceeds from oil, gotten from the people's land and hand them over to their people. They will move in with their families, one man to four women, each woman have at least five children, in twenty years time, they'll outnumber the Aborigines, use their numbers to get strategic political positions and declare an Islamic state.

Sounds like fiction? No! That's exactly how Lebanon moved from a very popular trading and beautiful tourist country that it was, to the ruins and debris laden country that it is today.

The Christians in the South have a choice, they either hand over the colonies to the Jihadists, sorry government, and convert to Islam or say "No!" to the colony project and begin to prepare for the consequences. To be forewarned, is to be forearmed! God help us".

The unfolding scenario is indeed grave and it is fraught with danger. War is on the horizon and the sheer madness, greed, blood lust and callousness of the Fulani terrorists and herdsmen coupled with the conspiratorial collaboration and criminal collusion of the Buhari administration in their unconscionable evil is stirring a retributive, wild, dangerous and  uncontrollable rage in the hearts of their victims and in the communities that they consistently terrorist, burn down and subject to ethnic cleansing and genocide.

That rage is like a massive volcano that is waiting to erupt and explode. And when it does not one of the perpetrators or the objects of its hate will escape the wrath of its burning lava. The message is simple and clear: "we shall not be conquered".
