Rapper Fabolous charged for assaulting his longtime girlfriend, faces 3-5 years in prison

Rapper, Fabolous has officially been charged following allegations that he assaulted his longtime girlfriend, Love and Hip Hop" star, Emily Bustamante, causing her to lose two front teeth.
Bossip confirmed that the Brooklyn rapper is now facing one count of aggravated assault in the third degree as well as one count of making terroristic threats, also in the third degree.

In the rapper's complaint which was obtained by BOSSIP, Emily Bustamante said her sons’ father committed domestic violence against her, punching her in the head seven times, “causing severe damage to her two front teeth,” which later had to be medically removed.

The father of two also texted Emily to “inform her that he would hit her in the head with a baseball bat,” and after he tried to obtain a handgun that had been removed, “informed the victim that he had a bullet for her,” his complaint says.

It was reported that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has stepped in and will be trying the case against the Brooklyn rapper.
According to BOSSIP, the “Throw It In The Bag” rapper could face three to five years in state prison along with up to $15,000 in fines for the aggravated assault charge alone, if he’s convicted.

Fabolous is due back in court later this month for the ongoing case.
Some days ago, a video also surfaced online which shows Fabolous raging bitterly at his babymama of two children and her father while holding a knife.

Troops intercept armed herdsmen in Benue state

Troops deployed in Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA have intercepted a large number of Armed herdsmen in Asom village, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a tip off.
The bandits on sighting the troops at Ukaa and Babban Ruwa area opened fire on them. One herdsman was killed during the encounter.

Similarly, troops on patrol on 3 April 2018 rescued two persons shot by suspected herdsmen along Gbajimba -Kaseyo road.
Recall that on January 1st, a clash between herdsmen and farmers led to the death of over 70 persons.

Flavour’s concert: ''No reported case of rape in our command'' Enugu Police says

The Enugu state police command says there has been no reported case of rape from the musical concert organized by singer Chinedu Okoli aka Flavour on Saturday March 31st at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu state.

Some Nigerians on social media had alleged that over 20 girls were raped, some of the rapist allegedly wore masks during the attack. The state police command had released a statement saying it will be investigating the matter.

Today, the state police command spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu, briefed journalists where he stated that there has been no case of rape lodged in any of its police divisions. Amaraizu doubted the veracity of the reports of the alleged mass rape.

''The newspaper report (of the mass rape), which is based on a twitter message is unfounded and we cannot operate on speculations as a law enforcement agency. Till now, nobody has come forward to report any case of sexual assault or molestation and rape to the Command. However, our doors in the Command, divisional headquarters and stations all over the state are open for anybody or group to make a report and we will take it up from there by doing further investigation. There is no reported case of rape (from the musical concert) anywhere in the Enugu State Police Command. We don’t have any incident arising from that event. Whoever that has any should come forward, and we will look at it'' he said

Speaking further, Amaraizu said ''You even begin to ask yourself, those people that quoted number of the rape victims as 20, how did they do the counting? Does it mean they were following the rapists around and taking the data? Or the victims were assembled at one place and raped? Who are these victims?”

Benue State prince arrested for allegedly masterminding the trafficking of 23 people

Benue State Police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni today said that prince Messenger Tar has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the trafficking of 23 people..

He was caught while conveying the 23 people out of the state in an 18-seater bus belonging to a transport company known as Benue Links. Owoseni said the police suspected that the victims, who are between the ages of 12 and 45, were being transported illegally for trafficking purposes.

He said: “Investigation revealed that the victims were lured by the suspect on promises of providing them with jobs at Kiama in Kwara State but that they were actually going to be taken outside the country to Niger for exploitation. The victims would be handed over to their parents/guardians while the suspected trafficker will face the law.”  

The suspect, however, denied that he was trafficking the people for exploitation. He told newsmen during his parade by the police that he had a restaurant in Kwara state and had wanted the two ladies among the alleged victims to work for him, having settled their parents of the sum of N10,000 monthly salary.

He added that the other victims were only going to join their relatives living in Kwara state.

Austrian government bans headscarf for school girls

The right-wing government in Australia today announced that girls attending day care centres and elementary schools should no longer be wearing headscarves announcing a plan to draft a new bill.

“The veiling of small children should definitely have no place in our country,” conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz told reporters after a meeting. He said that the step will curb gender discrimination against girls and prevent the development of marginalized “parallel societies” within Austria.

“It’s important to take a stance against political Islam. We want to make sure that children grow up free and that they are not pulled into these [Islamic] mechanisms,” added Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache of the far-right Freedom Party.  Small girls with headscarves are not a large-scale phenomenon in Austria.

When a asked for statistics that underpin the new policy, Kurz was not able to provide numbers but said that “it is a growing problem.” Half a year ago, a ban on face veils came into effect in Austria, a policy that likewise affects only a small number of people.  So far, police have cited only 50 transgressors.

To pass the new headscarf ban for girls, the two right-wing government parties need the support of one opposition party in parliament, to secure a necessary two-thirds majority. Social Democrats and Liberals signalled Wednesday that would consider the bill, while calling for a package of integration policies rather than symbolic steps like a ban.

Ghanaian teachers embark on indefinite strike over unpaid salary arrears

On Wednesday, public-sector graduate teachers in pre-tertiary institutions across Ghana declared an indefinite strike over unpaid salary arrears.

President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, at a news conference said the teachers took the decision due to the deliberate actions and inaction of the government regarding the arrears.

 “We have no other alternative but to advise ourselves. the senior high schools reopen on April 16, nobody should expect our members to be present,” said Carbonu.

According to him, no convincing reasons have been given by the government for the non-payment of the salary arrears after a series of meetings between the two parties. “What we see are orchestrations, tactics, maneuvering and manipulations employed by the Ministry of Finance to drag its feet and possibly refuse to repay the arrears at all,” the NAGRAT president added.

The arrears, amounting to 50 million cedis (11.33 million U.S. dollars) accrued from 2013 are in respect of salary adjustments, up-grading and promotions, vehicle maintenance allowance as well as transfer grants. Carbonu said it also included the salaries of newly recruited teachers into the Ghana Education Service (GES) who had taught for several months but were yet to be paid.

The strike action by the graduate teachers is set to have a toll on education, as final-year students in senior high schools here began writing their West African Secondary School Certificate Examination on Tuesday.  The teachers are usually engaged as invigilators and supervisors for the examinations.

God's plan! Teen gets accepted to all of the 20 colleges he applied to, including scholarships of $260,000

A Texas teenager from Lamar High School in the Houston Independent School District, was accepted by all 20 of the colleges and universities he applied to.

17-year-old Micheal Brown from Houston’s Third Ward, reportedly applied to 20 colleges and universities, including four Ivy League schools, and was accepted by all of the institutions after he had received an acceptance letter from Stanford University in December.

The acceptance emails reportedly came with more than $260,000 in scholarships.

In a Sunday statement on Chron.com, the excited teenager says: “It’s surprising I was accepted to all of them,” Brown said few days after the last of the acceptance emails came in.

However, his principal and counselors were not surprised at all as he was involved in a long list of extracurricular activities, including debate.
Michael who achieved an impressive high school academic record of  4.68 GPA is looking to be a political science major. He recently worked on Mayor Sylvester Turner’s election campaign.

According to the reports, Brown hasn’t made a final decision yet, but he has listed seven schools. “In no particular order,” they are: Northwestern, Georgetown, Princeton, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard and Stanford Universities.
